That's Kordofan state, it's like the last meeting place in Sudan between Arab tribes and non-Arab tribes in the country. Between 2009-10 there were some tribal conflicts over resources between the tribes, Abyei is a disputed town between the North and South, that also caused problems, there were some tribal conflicts in that area too between 2007-08.
There were problems between the Bashir's government and the SPLM (rebel group from the South Sudan/Nuba Mountains, which are still active in those areas, and want to liberate it from the North) in those areas, too. Nuba Mountains war if you look it up, but that war was more to do with political reasons rather than tribal.
