Nobody should identify as “black”

Let it marinate for a second
Na because the point is black as a label has no real meaning because all the dark skinned people around the world they all have different culture and history and are completely unrelated except for the fact that they coincidentally happen to share the same skin colour but the ummah is different concept meaning that we share the same morals and beliefs and thus to an extent the same culture. So these two cannot be equivocated
The marination is not working :notsureif:

That’s a fair point but the idea is that if you’re going to say all we share is a skin color thus the label has no real meaning then it’s equally fair to say that all we share is a few core beliefs and probably attending the same mosque (if that) with other muslims so it doesn’t make sense to claim “muh ummah”.

plus sharing beliefs and morals with people doesn’t mean we’re the same or have the same culture, we also have shared morals with a lot of cadaans or Chinese people on many things, that doesn’t mean we’re the same in any way. point being if the black label is a flimsy concept for reasons listed you could equally apply the same logic to other beliefs some Somalis take a face value imo

Our culture is very much affected by Islaam take the arabic loanwords in afsomali, or items of clothing in our culture e.g. macawiis that are also found in other muslim countries like yemen and oman due to trade. This is not to say that those items are not somali culture rather somalis use it more than them, but that islaam does have a clear influence on it

ALthough i think i kind of get what you mean how people will bond over islaanimo in the same way they will bond over madownimo However islamic brotherhood is sharci. That is the brick wall that will be faced on any discussion of the ummah because farax 1 is thinking about theoretical ummah but farax 2 is talking about real world practice
