I have been considering joining a frat. I’m staying with my uncle currently and he legit lives two blocks away from my uni. During transfer orientation I made friends with this frat dudes at the club/organization fair. I have one of the dudes in my organic lecture and we study together with like a few other people. He chill last week he invited me to a party after the game(college football is big where I live). I had work. After I got off I texted him to see if it was still going on and it was.

I showed up to this party and just saw niggas wilding. It was fun but I don’t like the sight of seeing cadaan dudes smash beer cans on their heads.

Pledge week passed but after that party I just made friends without the dudes their. Their is an african American frat in my college as well and I really want to attend one of their parties. I might go to one soon because I met one of the members at a club meeting(joined the african society at school hoping To meet other Somalis but just ran into a lot of west Africans sudanis and Ethiopians) .


I’m lucky my uncle lives close I feel engaged in to colllege life. Before I just went home and school wasn’t involved tha much besides one semester in the bio club

If you can afford, move out of your uncle's place and enjoy life. You are a well balanced bloke, enjoy life because right now, you are going through the most amazing phase of your entire life. Join the frat and join as many clubs as you could and make as many contacts/friendships as possible. You will need them in the future, either to open doors for you, tip you about employment opportunities and etc. Don't be stuck at home with your uncle and his family.

You remind me of myself in first year of uni . I lived away from home for reasons. I was pressured to go all the time, I ended up going and hated it. Most guys go there for one reason and the girls all get drunk (they drink more than men from what I saw that night).

Now I just tell people I don't go clubbing/ (smoke/drink which is common in uni) and if they don't like it then good, I don't have to do things i'm not comfortable with in order make friends with the wrong type of people.
