I don't know if this is independently verified or officially confirmed but if true then this is fantastic news for KG state and Somalia as a whole. This is the fruits of proper federalism whereby a state/province is ultimately controlled by the central government but has a large enough degree of self governance that can take some initiatives in policy areas it is constitutionally permitted to carry out

He reformed and left and campaigned against them. He was helping Shabaab members leave and trying to stabilise koonfur galbeed before they kidnapped him and in prisoned him without reason (well there was a reason, his qabiil) If sheikh shariif is still walking around free and allowed to not only be president but run again, acting like a noble religious person then the same forgiveness gotta be spread to everyone else trying to change their stripes. Sooo many of our politicians are ex warlors/terrorists/rapists/thieves etc. Believe me I would rather everyone have clean records and not criminal pasts but somalia is a law less country so I cant expect much.

Agreed, I would be fine with it if there wasnt hypocrisy with picking and choosing who gets punished and who gets to climb up the lander and get rich/fame.
