I'm from Kenya. The somalis there import their products from Somalia. They are able to have cheap products because they get shipments from somalia. Kenya banned somali imported sugar in favor of theirs. But the somali businesses keep bringing their Sugar from somalia. Infact a guy living in Dadaab refugee camp has 3 trucks coming for him every month. Pays $20k to the Kenyan army(not the police) who are at the boarder to protect his shipments and let them go. A guy in a refugee camp shouldn't have that kind of money can you imagine what he makes once he receives his shipments?

At the end of the day, the money somali kenyans spend stays in somali pockets whether they live in somalia or kenya. It helps somalis don't drink alcohol which is the number one reason kenyans don't have money to start a businesses in real estate, retail, telecom, finance and so on.

i dont think he pays 20K, Ogadens control Doobely and only they are allowed to send sugar through kismayo to kenya, NFD,

the Ogadens will stop yuo if yuor not one of them through the border,

basic numbers, its costs around 18-23$ for a kish of sugar in kismayo port due to hardly any tax, kenya uses taxes, massive taxes and bribe makes mombasa sugar imprioted around 70-90$ for a kish of 50 KG

so Ogadens i know pay around $2000 at mots to have it smuggled, if sugar price is low, it might even be around $500 per truck
