where do most somalis nyc boroughs reside and how come we ain't in the nyc statistics? I'm pretty sure we no more than 50 ovethere hence why we aren't included in the official nyc statistics (demogrqphics)

They are plenty of Somalis in NYC. I used to go there for work shops and met alot of Somalis in Manhattan. Some mixed with AAs.

If we are plenty we would have been included in the nyc statistics, I even saw Ethiopians on the list. aint doubting there's somalis there but definatley no more than 50 we are even made a meme "New York thought it was too edgy for somalis"

There are Somalis in Boston, apparently. Even my hooyo went there to visit relatives before the civil war so I dunno why there'd not be some in NYC which neighbors it:





Our own @Plo_Koon is a Bostonian Geeljire. And there's enough of a Somali presence in NYC to apparently have a restaurant in Harlem:



But I rarely ever hear about Somalis in NYC, gotta admit. This restaurant and what @Nalaaye floxks is saying surprised me.

If it matters I was born in NYC, more specifically Astoria, Queens.

Lived in Chicago as well for school. Sure there’s plenty of Somalis in Minneapolis (I went to high school there) but Somalis are very spread out from Seattle, San Diego, Atlanta, Virginia , Boston, etc.

the somali restaurant owner moved to nyc to open up a business not because somalis are there the cookers and waitresses are all ajanabi since is difficult to find Somalis in NYC, let's just admit we aren't a thing there few models and taxi drivers don't make up the statistics.

The government picked it or obviously majority of them are refugees, most Somalis in NY are economic refugees that came before the civil war, MN is not only a somali place, it’s a place for the Liberians and Hmong refugees as well

Yeah there was a gang of us growing up there and my early childhood memories were in Queens. Our parents went there for work in 80s, 90s and had us there. Mostly Queens and it was always in Astoria.
