New year's

I really wanted to go to the Netherlands for new year's but I can't self-isolate 10 days each way.

I love new year's eve. I'm like a kid when it comes to fireworks. The UK is dry because people don't partake to the same extent. My neighbours used to half 3 bin bags full of fire works from over the border.

It's going to be depressing this year.

Usually went out to watch some fireworks with buds
I can see em well enough from my damn balcony my ass is staying indoors .

I’ve had the frightening experience of Dutch new year once and it was awful. I can only assume they were trying to attack the sky? There is no other explanation for that many fireworks. I was accosted by a greasy unwashed Dutchie wielding a sparkler at every turn. The next morning the town was filled with smoke, I don’t even wanna think about the impact on the environment.I didn’t feel like I was celebrating I felt like I was in a dystopian film and trying to survive.

It's beautiful! You have to embrace the madness. I always thought it was a world-wide (or at least a European thing) until I experienced it in the UK. I hope the Canadians and Americans aren't like the brits in this regard.

It's so much fun to partake. I knew kids that lost fingers to fireworks, but that didn't stop us. It is our civic duty to let the year off a bang.

Right???

I actually asked my neighbours if they bought any fireworks cause I thought I might mess around in the garden and light a few off, but no one is partaking. They'll probably complain about the noise too

I wish I could go there this year. I was really considering making plans to do this prior to the Covid pandemic. London is quite dry the only lit place is in Central London and it's full of drunks.

I've never been to Central London for New Year's Eve. I wouldn't mind being there for the countdown, but I think they do like a show right? For me it's the community participation that makes it so much fun.

Either way, this year will be weird as hell because of covid

I have never celebrated it there either. I've been in the area a few hours beforehand and the mess begins beforehand. I normally chill at home and watch it live. My local park won't be doing it this year because of Covid. :mjcry:
