The effects quarantine had on social media needs to be studied. Social media after 2020 is completely different than it was before

If case you hadn't already noticed, social media algorithms are amplifying the most extremist opinions or at least the most controversial takes in order to bolster engagement. That's on the political side of things, especially when it's gender discourse with all of these alpha males and "tradwives".

That effect has trickled down into Islamic (and other religious) content. The meaning of the word dayooth as I learnt it at my masjid refers to a literal cuckold. The pimping out of your wife. Or an open relationship, like Will and Jada.

But these Muslim content creators who want to fit in with Western conservatism while calling everyone else "westernised" have expanded the meaning to a Muslim women being on camera next to his wife doing a Q&A video while her husband is in the frame, sitting beside her. If she smiles, he's a dayooth and she's commiting tabarujj by default because they like her smile.

I think people are using Islamic concepts as a justification for cyberbullying Muslims they find cringe online and it's more apparent now more than ever in this post-pandemic era.
