The vast majority of Somalis in the west are either the children of refugees or themselves refugees, and these people know that bc they call us refugees to slight us but now they've conveniently forgotten (or maybe they're just ignorant lol) that refugee status is determined by the host country not the country of origin. Western immigration authorities decide which Somalis are let in and there are literally no mechanisms that allow Somali institutions to interfere in that process. Also I thought it was general knowledge that skin tone changes with sun exposure but I guess not lol.
