What is the average Samaroon look to you? @AbdiFreedom
What?@Zak12, you see? Their guessing proves you are the qabilist and I am not. I am owed an apology.
Samaroon are the second biggest clan in my home city next to Isa, so I have a very big sample size. They all have smaller noses and are taller than average Somalis. They also don't judge people as much as other Somalis. They are more polished. They are also the most educated Somalis but are slightly less deen focused (but not to the extent of Isa)
I've figured out your clan but I will let everyone else figure it out for themselves.Samaroon are the second biggest clan in my home city next to Isa, so I have a very big sample size. I didn’t realize that different clans had legitimately different traits. Not to sound qabilist, but do you think that there are clans that have more negative traits than others?I will also add that they and Isa are the most cultured Somalis. I feel they value Somali culture and Somalinimo over deen. They are the type of people you have represent Somalia at the cultural booth over other clans. You don't send them to international Qur'an contests.

Good observation in the height. What do you think causes the difference in height between the Ciise and Samaroon? The latter tend to be taller on average.View attachment 309750

We don't value culture over deen. Last year, two Samaroon won a Quran contest coming in 1st and 2nd place in the North and the most popular Sheekh in Djibouti is Samaroon.

No need to say names I just want to know if you think it’s possible. I always thought clan stereotypes were cuqdad ridden nonsense but maybe that’s not always the case
Are these recents traits that came as a result of the civil war, or was it always like this? They may disagree with you wholeheartedly but they won't lynch you or expose you like other Somalis. They were less affected by the civil war.

Interesting so would you say northern dir represent the “authentic” Somali culture that existed before the war? Did the other qabils also have the same traits as the northern dirs?Civil war and increased religiosity of other clans post ICU/Al Itihaad/Burco northern Salafi influence.
I heard that Dirs are like the origin of all the clans or something right?Interesting so would you say northern dir represent the “authentic” Somali culture that existed before the war? Did the other qabils also have the same traits as the northern dirs?
I think they say that for everyone except Isaaq and Daarood. They say that those two clans are maternally descended from a Dir woman. I think her grave is somewhere in SanaagI heard that Dirs are like the origin of all the clans or something right?

What's my clan?
I have no idea.
My sample size is pretty big. You're using a few examples. I said they tend to. I didn't call them murtads. I actually don't know any murtad Dirs (the most Somalis I personally know) but I know murtad Isaaq, Darood and Hawiyes. I just said they are not as religious on average.
I have no problem saying it. Isaaq, Hawiye and Darod and southern Dir are much more judgemental and untrustworthy than northern Dir and to a lesser extent, K5/NFD Somalis. You can immediately be yourself around northern Dir whereas you have to evaluate the situation around other Somalis. I only noticed this recently when I look back at my past growing up and now. They may disagree with you wholeheartedly but they won't lynch you or expose you like other Somalis. They were less affected by the civil war.
Some clan stereotypes are real.
Samaroon are the second biggest clan in my home city next to Isa
You are of Isaaq stock? I don't think I know of any other clan that lives amongst Ciise and Samaroon that are not our neighbours backhome.
Interesting. Did you notice meaningful differences between clans at the sub clan level?Yes to both questions.
Another interesting piece of information is that despite the northern Dir being the majority or near majority in the city I grew up in, the criminals were typically Isaaq, Darod and Hawiye. The northern Dir were not necessarily better off financially. Every clan ended up in the suburbs buying homes but northern Dir did not run afoul of the law. Again, it's obvious the trauma of war played some role here. I knew many dead or imprisoned; I don't believe any were northern Dir.
Yeah, so am I. Are you Isaaq?I'm talking about Canada.
