You can't move out. You need to live with your mom until marriage.

Do u know how lucky u r???????????

U will save lots of money! Ca Chiiinggggggggg! $$$$$$$$$$

Depends on your living conditions really. Do you have many siblings, work from home, share a room etc. If so, in my opinion it's not worth the amount you'll be saving by living with your parents and it's best to move out.

Rent prices in the west are border line criminal, if you can handle it then sure, go for it. But too many people after leaving their home find themselves unable to cope with rent/bills and end up having to do the walk of shame back to their parents.

Maybe she attached to you and will miss you when you leave that’s why she’s saying all this.

i don’t know any hooyo expecting their kid to stay after graduating. Probably attachment issues

Try to communicate directly with your own dad, maybe he will change his mind around buying house or can convince your mom to allow you to live alone.

Knowing Somali families, if you are the eldest child you already been burdened by carrying the load of responsibilities and even more so if you are a girl. I think if you communicate to her how much you done for her, maybe she will allow you this small freedom to live by yourself.

I dont think its wise to buy a house on your name for her....if she has government house, she can buy it with your dad. As far as moving out, she may be worried that once you move out you start to get into bad situation. But if you finished uni and working, then you grown ass woman.

Your dad never wanted to buy a house? Y'all still living in govt housing and I'm assuming you've got younger siblings? No offense but your dad sounds like the problem here. Seems like your mother is channeling the frustration she has for your father on you.

If you've got your own room in your family's home and your parents don't police your movements, treat you like a child, etc. I suggest you stay with them. What's the point of paying thousands in rent, utility bills, food when you've got welcoming family living in the same city?

Tell her to look to the one responsible for providing for the family (your father) to provide her with a house.

I second this.

But if you could afford to live on your own and you feel it's necessary for you growth/or peace of mind then by all means don't let anything stop you.

Do you have to disclose your income if you're in govt housing or do they have a way of finding that information? If it's the former, keep your mouth shut, continue living at home and save as much as humanly possible. The down payment and monthly payments financially cripple most people wallahi. DO NOT buy a house with your mom. It'll f*ck your credit beyond repair.

I'm personally going to keep living in the family home even after I get a mortgage inshallah. Might even rent the property whilst living at home to pay it off asap.
