My mom is 10 years sober

Growing up my mom was an alcoholic.she used to get very drunk and have all types of random people over. it made for a crappy childhood. All sorts of men I called abti. All types of women screaming. And you know Somalis cannot handle their alcohol. So police would come often. Most of my friends todayare people whos fathersand mothers used to come over and drink. We bonded over hating our lives. When I was 14 my mom had some kind of intervention with me and her siblings who lived in the north America they all cornered her and told her to snap out of it. It was emotional time. My mom went to a 30 day rehab and relapsed she went again after a few months and has been alcohol freensince then. The only problem is she has gone closer to Islam and is not happy that I don't understand it.

We all make mistakes and sometimes it's very difficult to correct those mistakes, but with lots of help and support anyone can turn their life around. I am very happy to hear that she's doing good and becoming closer to her deen. May Allah make the journey easier on her and you as her child that wants her to be free of substance abuse

That sounds quite traumatising esp bonding with other kids that you hate your lives I hope you’re don't feel like that anymore!! Good for your mum to stop drinking I can only imagine how weird it it for random people coming to your home non stop.
