Moving back to Somalia

Just want some advice on how I can retire permanently back to Somalia around my early to mid 30’s. I want to live in Mogadishu and preferably buy a house, and have a good amount of money saved up where I can comfortably live. Do you think it’s possible? What are the monthly living expenses (USD)? How much should I have saved up?

To live comfortably in Mogadishu you'd need an income of $1000 a month. This is if you want your own car, house etc. I too am planning to move back, when my income stream reaches that level (In somalia)

That sounds like the average expense I pay living here in America Hopefully I can forego having a car and just walk to the places I need to go. So at the most, I’ll probably spend a few hundred a month. But good luck on your goals walaal. Inshallah we’ll be back in Xamar soon

I for one actually enjoy cold weather. I can't stand extreme hot weather, it makes me lazy and unproductive, but that's just me.

You will have bills in Somalia as well with increased risk of economic instability.

If I were you guys I would stay in the West, it is the smarter move long term.

I would only consider Somalia if I had a digital company and could do the digital nomad thing from there.. but then again it will be a pain in the ass due to the expensive of flying in and out and lack of direct flights and lack of international services there (international banking, cheap and reliable shipping etc).

My dear..do..not step a foot on Somalia soil. Your sensitive nature will be boiled by the heat before the natives surround u.

Better bring a whole militia with you, if you're seriously considering moving back to a country that your parents fled from.
