Is the Australian economy still going strong or is it in danger of becoming the next UK ?
We are in a per capita recession. Only thing stoping us from having an actual recession is massive population growth with artificially increased the GDP via immigration. Housing affordability is at all time low which is causing the government to come under fire for letting too many international students even though exporting education to Chinese and Indians is one of our larger cash cows and they don’t really compete for the same housing stock as the average Australian.
Going to the doctor isn’t free anymore so that sucks. Good thing is you can still find a job easily but there is f*ck all wage growth. Electricity prices through the fucking roof because the greenies want renewables so they starting rolling back coal power plants even though we barely have adequate renewable infrastructure and the gas that we do extract, we sell to other countries for f*ck all then buy it back at crazy prices. Oh and we don’t properly tax our largest industry which is digging shit out of the ground because it’s a great way to lose an election. So yeah we are about to become like the UK and it’s totally avoidable.
Side note : Whenever chinas economy slows down, the Australian economy slows down too. Our country is built on digging shit like raw iron and coal and selling it to china. We have zero manufacturing.
