Most Googled Country By Every Other Country In Africa (Except Their Own).

According to this Map, Egypt, South Africa & Nigeria are the most popular countries; especially in their respective regions which comes as no surprise since they are cultural powerhouses. In addition, Kenya is fairly popular in East Africa with the notable exception being Ethiopia.

Arabic speaking Africans are into Egypt because it is the Hollywood of the Arab world.

As for Ethiopians googling Somalia, probably for war/geopolitical reasons.

Mauritania is a notable exception amongst the Maghrebi Nations, since they're obsessed with Senegal.

I think Senegal is still living in the minds of Mauritanians rent-free after the Mauritania-Senegal Border War which was highly racialised due to a Senegalese pogrom against Mauritanian/Maghrebi Businessmen in the country during the War.

Maybe Ethiopia is suspect about Somalia. Keep your enemies closer.

Mauritania is multi-ethnic. I think the Berber types probably are more focused on North Africa, while the Black African ones look more towards Senegal.

how comes youre a habesha on a somali site lol.

You could have guessed the answer yourself. It is because almost every day there are threads after threads about Ethiopia on somali forums and it pops up when we google it. With all the flood of Ethiopian related threads, I think we are still very few on this forum. Even with all the overwhelming evidence at hand, Somalis though will still claim Ethiopians are obsessed with Somalia.

Somalis are fascinating. They don't take reality at face value if they don't like it :ftw9nwa:. Very fascinating indeed.
:hmm:

lmao girl you lowkey right, i wouldn't say we are obsessed with ethiopia, but if one of the two groups had to take the obsession label it would be somalia. i dont blame them tho, its not easy to like a country that a third of its whole land is stolen from somalis.

but i wish somalis learned to seperate the people and the nation.

i also think its a more of an issue of proximity, as ethiopians and somalis are so similar in almost every way, but if you're not around each other, its easier to 'other' them and spew division. growing up in toronto with hella habeshas, sudanis and somalis, we were all one and gravitated towards one another naturally. why am i gonna not f*ck with a people who look exactly like me, and a lot share same religion as me? this is not the case in some heavily populated somali areas, such as london, some cities in the US, some scandi places etc. who I assume are the ones who easily hate on habeshas, never meeting them.

but yh, as long as ethiopia still owns large areas of somali land, i dont think the 'obsession' will stop
