When your a govt employee your job isnt to discuss policies but to do your job that your paid for and serve the govt of the day not have a political opinion. The govt answers to the people and doesnt need more politics inside institution. If you disagree with the policy then you resign its simple as that. I would hand in my resignation effective of 2 weeks or 4 weeks depending on termination policy of the ministry. If you don't agree with a position or policy the govt has taken you show that by not assisting them in your role. Your not politicians your govt employees. You didn't have to get elected, the govt did. Your were hired for your expertise or skill set and you must deliver upon your contractual agreement.

The state minister for security is correct in sacking her. You wanna get paid several thousand and then badmouth the govt that pays you? What qualifications does this woman have to be holding an advisory position within the ministry? I highly doubt this woman is even in Muqdisho.

This is rather unfortunate. Public employees are not only allowed to have an opinion on issues, but also voice such opinions in a public forum. The principles of neutrality and impartiality only apply she is using her official authority or influence to affect the outcome of an election in a way that can suggest governmental enforcement of political party or Candidate, neither of which is happening in her tweet.

You see this same minister and other ones saying stuff about farmaajo as he visited, but she can’t say stuff about the inclusive politics needed to forward the constitution? It’s hypocritical, and it stinks of dictatorship when no one can even speak up, they’d fire parliament members if they could.

Unfortunately, they have been shutting down people who dare to not engage in groupthink. Ultimately they are putting all other government workers on notice, if you publicly disagree with the government, you could lose your job.

In America, Civil Servants are still entitled to their own political opinion and the government can not take any action. According to Somalia’s constitution, she free to express herself in speech. Can you point me to any law that says she cannot? Else, this is simply an act of injustice.
What she said is hardly any worse than what UN said regarding the constitution. What she said is even more tame. If ilhan tomorrow criticizes Biden, Biden can’t do shit about it except support a New Democrat for Minnesota. US isn’t a dictatorship like Somalia currently is.
If there is freedom of speech that’s final. There’s no such thing as freedom of speech but not against the government unless it’s NK or any other countries of that ilk.

Civil servants have been fired regularly for expressing their political opinions. In US civil servants have limited free speech, although more than most countries. Where were you during early Trump years? Thousands got sacked.
In some US states, civil servants aren't even allowed to boycott Israel.
In india civil servants can't express any political opinions publicly. Nor work in any editorial position.

She’s a public civil servant, they don’t have the same freedom to criticize the government the way elected officials can. Until she goes to jail for what she said, her freedom of speech hasn’t been violated. Free speech doesn’t mean free from consequences. People regularly get fired from their jobs based on what they do or say on social media, government workers are no different. They are just trying to politicize this situation because they dislike HSM
