Do people not have shame anymore? Dancing in front of everyone for just ice cream especially in front of dhegacas people? The woman definitely does not situational awareness, dancing in public in front of stranger men in a tight dress while people record you is not okay. Waxaan bal fiiriya. People are looking at her like a piece of meat.

Don't blame her, blame the Somali culture and men for this result.

She's a victim of a culture that forces young women to wear something they don't understand.

If your little sisters seek inspiration from
Zoom4li women on the internet then you and your parents have failed them.

‘Calling out’ strangers who you share nothing in common with other than the country you come from is how idiots behave online.

You got to call out strangers sometimes, humans are social people, we cannot exist without a group. So if some people are doing something that your own community disapproves or otherwise could harm the community, you got to condemn them. Especially those with large following on social media or viral videos like this one.

Shes in Turkey, a secular muslim nation. I presume she is traveling without a mahram due to dancing and the tight dress. She could wear anything she wants because she is not around her community or in Somalia. She is responsible for embarrasing herself.

Saxib, Somali eyes are everywhere and so are cameras. Somali parents on average would rage and froth at the mouth for their daughters taking the hijab off/wearing pants... than wearing a tight revealing skirt with it and dancing with strangers.

It's a weird double standard.

How you going to blame somali man or culture when shes a grown adult and decided to dance for ice cream willingly?
I dont see any somali men forcing her to dance for an ice cream .

She's a victim of a culture that would call her a h0e and look down upon her for not wearing a hijab... a culture enforced by Somali men and (brainwashed) women who uphold the patriarchy. In turn, she wears the hijab that she doesn't understand is pressured to don and carries on like a non-hijabi.

you idiots make Somali women seem so terrible, but we’re maskiin af compared to other groups. If y’all went outside once in a while, you’d see what I mean

Arab chicks, especially Lebanese are MUCH worse than us

What about gaalo parents putting little children in bikinis? All parents raise their children based on their values. Don’t make this a anti-hijab thing. She can educate herself about the hijab and make her own choice just like she’s chose to dance in public with that nin. Hijab has nothing to do with patriarchy.

No they are not, my parents wouldn’t let my sisters go out in a skin tight dress no matter what. This is true for other families too.

If the woman was worried about cameras she would not dance for stranger ajanabi. She should have some shame.

I'm not saying Hijab is patriarchal.. I'm just saying the Patriarchy is forcing it upon Somali women when they should be given the autonomy to decide for themselves. You know very well many parents force the hijab upon their daughters and never give them that choice. Our culture harshly judges women who don't wear it either.

Remember that Hargeisa fiasco where a Somali hijabi woman wore loose pants and she was harassed so much the police arrested her? That's how our society likes to act with hijab and pants.

Somali women are definitely the best muslim women out there, unfortunately a lot of debauchery by our women has gone viral and this has created a false image about them. It does not even help they do it with hijab on.

That might be for your family but look around you. I've seen many Somali women wear tight skirts outside, especially on Eid day. This girl in the video and the way she's dressing is very common among Somali women.

Heck, even my aunt from Somalia wore tight skirts lol but never pants.

We judge by what is apparent.

It is undeniable that there is a recent phenomenon of Somalis girls going out of their way to act inappropriately publicly while wearing the hijab.

It is basic knowledge that dancing so provocatively in front of men goes against our deen and dhaqan as I doubt that this girl would do this in front of her father, brother or even a large group of Somali men.

Many of the Somali girls I know won't even enter Somali cafes yet see how she and the one from the other videos were so comfortable shaking it off.

Women from other Muslim groups might act just as scandalous but they either do so away from the camera/not with a hijab/not in front of ajanabis/at private family functions.

This is what happens when carrying yourself in line with our Islamic values is seen as oppressive "ceeb culture"

We need to call this out as otherwise, our little sisters will think that this sort of behaviour is acceptable. I dread to think how bad things will get if there is no serious push back against this sort of ratchet and unIslamic behaviour.

There is nothing ignorant about calling this what it is.
Calling people out is different from giving a sincere nasiixa. You’re supposed to make excuses for fellow Muslims when they they have a shortcoming. The fact you say you are a woman and mentioned you are in favour of “honour based attitude adjustment in our community” is yaab. If you believe you possess more wisdom or understanding of diin, you should share that instead. Her behaviour is hers alone and doesn’t bring anyone’s “stock” down except her own. You're upset because you make it seem like she is making you look bad.

I agree Somali women are great muslims. You Farax's are very obsessed with policing us when we actually for the most part keep our heads down and are productive members of any country we go to.

Don't imitate the sick Arabs or Central/Pakistani/Afghani Asians, they're very anal with policing their women as if they're objects. Let Somali women have the autonomy to make their own choices.

Honestly though, has anyone seen West African muslims? Their women are constantly wearing tight clothings even more so than Somali women but no one calls them out. I'm thinking y'all need to chill out with this honor based bullshit and let women breathe.

I actually don’t know people who were/are forced to dress islamically. And I never have. Sure, my mother encouraged me but that’s the parent’s responsibility. Our people still believe in preserving our Islamic labis. They may not advise or teach people in the most reer magal way based on each individual’s garasho. Yes, our people back home put emphasis on dumar dressing islamically. No doubt about that. They don’t want gaalo ways to infect their society. If we were a passive people who didn’t stop wrong when we see it, the fasahad would be great like in gaalo countries.

Sisters who dress like this should be worried for themselves and their akhirah so they don’t become like the women mentioned in the famous Hadith.
