All Arabs were dark right?

Absolutely, they recognized various shades of black, but unlike today's broad categorization, the Arabs had distinct names for each. Someone intensely black, akin to the color of a crow, was referred to as Aswad or Shadid al Udma. In the Somali context, the majority fall under Adam (dark brown) and Asmar (brown), while a minority or few are Abyad or what's colloquially known as lightskinned Somalis, often nicknamed CadCad.

The blackness and whiteness are due to the nature of the country , and to what God has imposed upon it the water and the soil, and from before the nearness of the sun and after it, and the intensity of its heat and its softness...) .
