Your mother cannot tell you to violate your wives rights. If you really cared about your hooyo you would speak to her when she stops you from doing what you are meant to do as a husband. That is haraam.

I think the problem here is that men think that fulfilling their mothers rights mean that they don't have to fulfill their wives.

They think that if their mother asks them to violate their wives rights, they will not be punished for doing so. A muslim man needs to understand the concept of haqq. You do not obey your parents when it comes to haraam.

Of course your wife will have rights but when it comes down to it your mom and her input will always come first (unless its something ridiculous then you have to reason with her)

your mom having rights and her being controlling are two completely different things, I think its his fault because his mom knows that if he doesnt have enough balls to stand up to his mom respectfully than any other women will clearly take advantage of him, your mom does have rights, but your wife will be a mother to your child and should be your priority depending on the situation.
