Mohamed Siyaad ilaahay ha u naxariisto spoke better English than even those from British Somaliland who lived a couple years in England and went to elite Sandhurst Military Academy.

This says a lot by its own.

CaliTedesse Mohamed Siyaad was an extraordinary mind but as often with people like him there are tendencies that makes him do things his own way which begrudges others.

Dues compared to other halfwits challenging him, Mohamed Siyaad was a man with brain and purpose.

He probably knew that he was above them.

He forcefully took over a country filled with people who were patriots and peaceful for the most part and managed to lead us into fruitless wars within Somalia and abroad.

Such a genius.

How hard is it to supress rebellions without massacring many civilians?

All he had to do was utilise NISA, win the hearts and minds of the power-brokers of each clan and address their grievances. Rebels would have been left with minimal support and eventually would dissolve as their tribal regions would become hostile for them.

Yet, he chose to unleash his bullies and ordered the rape, murder and bombing of his own people.

Allah will deal with him and his allies.

He was the closest we had in terms of actually leading a country.

There were some bad choices but overall he was the man for the job and he ruled for 21 years.

All others are just imposters. The military takeover was bad as well as the Marxist+Leninist ideology he chose to garner support.

But the mans wits and genius is undeniable.

Watch his naysayers, they all have grudges against him and bitterness when talking about him.

It is Somalis that couldn't understand. He was willing to negotiate a transition and leave orderly.

Unfortunately the opposition leaders and rebel groups couldn't do that because they saw it as revenge time and not not discussion how to move forward. A grudge and vendetta drove them that only saw Mohamed Siyaad and their vengeance seeking full of contempt themselves.

Prior to Siyad Barre, Sharmarke and Aden Cadde were doing well and didn't kill people.

In fact, they are beloved/respected by all Somalis regardless of qabiil.
Not really Sharmaake was killed by his own MJ due to tribalism, MSB got rid of tribalism, unfortunately it slowly crept back in the 80s

Sharmarke wasn’t killed by an MJ, he died in LA by a soviet agent traitor connected to Barre ( he was reportedly paid a significant amount of money) it was revealed in documents that were released after the Soviet collapse, Somalia had many traitors and collaborators Barre being one of them.

One of the key figures behind the coup and put Barre in power:

Based on documents drawn from the Mitrokhin Archive, it alleges that Kediye had been a paid KGB agent codenamed "OPERATOR".

Of course he was, to control such a violent and largely uneducated population for that long with the nation enjoying relative peace was an achievement that many took for granted it seems. However one criticism I hold is that he was too lenient on the enemy lapdogs and those causing mischief within the country. If I was apart of the national security apparatus at the time I would definitely implement strict martial law on areas where enemy collaborators are known to be and force the local population to either give them up or face severe repercussions. As well as executing some of the men we held in prison in the 70s and 80s who later became warlords and caused much of the civil unrest. But as they say hindsight is 20/20.

And Kediye aka "OPERATOR" was executed for his treasonous dealings in 72'.

Dues I disagree the problem began when he started pleasing and promoting certain 'clan' that felt they were 'second class'.

Empowering those aggrieved nailed the coffin as they finally claimed Mogadishu as their own.

Mohammed Siyaad did this because he wanted them to help him against 'hostile subclans'.

He always had this fear of North Easterners even when it was too late as it seems he was aware of 'karma" and 'redistribution' as he thought these were his true rivals and in old Somali tradition you have to always keep a lookout for those you 'wronged'.

He felt he stole from North Easterners and got away with it.

Many say after his crash he wasn't in charge anymore and the vengeance ridden 'family' read clan took charge and what they executed was to promote USC clan which became downfall in fear of North Easterners who they thought would mistreat and hand out the same fate to them.

A classic misjudging of the situation.

He should have executed Caydiid, AY and all those who he imprisoned. Why on earth did he let them go? If they along with other rebels were dealt with swiftly, Somalia wouldn't have collapsed and Sayyid Barre's (AUN) son Maslah Mohamed Siad Barre would have taken control of the country after his death.

1. It was announced that the Coup was jointly led by Gen Siad Barre and Gen Qorsheel (Darod/Warsangeli) and they were closely working together as Head of the Army and Head of the Police.

2. Even before the Coup Siad Barre was an "outspoken" critic of Egal viewing him as capitulating to Ethiopia. The CIA has observed that Siad Barre had been personally ordering the supply of Oromo separatists even against the wishes of the government who were giving into Ethiopia.

They are covering up their treachery and plot against their own (Sharmaake) He was killed by Cali Salebaan guy, Barre had nothing to do with it but took control as the country faced civil war according to CIA the army was tribally divided and the country was at risk

Executing prisoners would have garnered him more public anger and hate. He got away with executing Salaad Gabeyre because it was early days and Salaad had many enemies.

He once imprisoned the Manifesto signees in early 1990 and sentenced them to Death, the whole of Xamar almost came to a halt that shook the regime so much they had to reduce it to imprisonment. Don't under estimate the public support.

Honestly, Caydiid had it too easy till the UN came. Afwayne use to give stars to reer baadiyo geeljirayaal who have never picked up a gun and told them to protect his govt :mjlol: ma waxaasaa layska dhici karin

If he was a smart leader, he would have built a loyal Army across clan lines. Instead he got paranoid when the Mj's attempted a coup and he saw many regimes in Africa overthrown by Vice Generals and Army Heads. From that moment, he surrounded himself with clansmen thugs like Morgan, Gaani, Gabyow, Dafle etc. He was even willing to tribalise the economy and gave Xoosh Kibray the only license to export and import without being taxed. How do you alienate the majority stakeholders in the country and expect to rule forever with a bunch of nobodies? :kodaksmiley:
