You lose your ethnicity within a generation. If your dad isnât Somali then you arenât Somali so yes you do lose your history when the idea of being a Somali is relatively recent (historically). 1000+ years is a very long time in Somali history therefore.
The misguided ancestors don't concern me, Allah will judge them accordingly. We have been Muslims since the birth of Islam in the 1st Hijra and we'll stay that way. Somalis are an ethno-religious group, our religion is part of who we are.
