Mogadishu developing rapidly

I hate the colorful roads 🫣
Why ? I think it looks good, it should be a norm in suburban areas, its way cheaper than paving actual bitumen roads and the maintenance is super easy if mass produced, if the road is broken all you have to do is replace a few blocks very practical, and i rather anything than this tbh

the thing that I think Is unique about somali development is unlike most other african nations we do not need to sell ourselves to the Chinese to build infrastructure.

Well you're not going to call china to set up some bricks on the ground, usually countries do this themselves, they call on China for major billion $ infrastructure like big inter-state highways, not a 10km road

Building a grid pattern city is going to cause gridlock once people in xamar start using cars on a larger scale but i dont think theres much option to change because thats how the houses was built

Grids are fine as long as each block is decently sized and roads are wide enough, there should be space for cars to park on at least one side of the road and two lanes for traffic
