UPDATE

Here is a more thorough article: https://www.businessinsider.com/tar...i-abdi-sharif-des-moines-disappearance-2020-1

Noting:
    1. January 17 was a snow day, so Abdi had the day off from school.
    2. His mother drove him to the mall that evening after he told her that he'd been called in for a shift.
    3. He asked her to to pick him up at 9:30 p.m.
    4. Abdi's loved ones say that neither he nor his sister were scheduled to work that night.
    5. Target provided police with footage of Abdi in the store and he appears to be wearing a dark winter coat, khakis, and sneakers and also seen holding a phone, with earbuds plugged into his ears.
    6. Sgt. Parizek, declined to say what time exactly Abdi left the Target store.
    7. His phone was either shut off or completely drained of its battery shortly after his disappearance.
    8. Abdi's sister and Levine are attempting to access his Apple account, to access data regarding his phone's location.
    9. Despite requests for expedited access, Apple has told them that they may not be able to get into the account until February 20.
    10. Detectives have gone to businesses and homes in the area to check if anyone has captured Abdi on video.
    11. "At this point, the only thing that we can say is that we found some evidence that indicates that his absence is voluntary," Parizek said.
    12. His sister and Levine have expressed worry about Abdi's health as he has missed weekly shots needed to treat his allergies.
    13. Levine flew to Des Moines after Abdi disappeared, and she and Abdi's sister have launched their own search for clues in his disappearance.
    14. They have gained access to his Snapchat, Facebook, emails, and bank account but haven't yet found anything that sheds light on what happened to him.

I hope he’s found safe and sound, I’m starting to sense a foul play, Iowa doesn’t have a big Somali community.

He sent in His Snapchat " Bad bad news" before his disappearance I think on the day and I am more inclined believe is connected to his dissapearence. Something isn't right about this case is giving me the shivers. Ya Allah please protect abdi wherever he may be and pardon him and give his family patience.

he could have left voluntarily due to that snapchat message. Thought that was creepy..

Do you have the screenshot? I think that should be a red flag. Did he someone or something that raised red flags. Was he being harassed or bullied the couple of days/weeks before he went missing? So many questions....

I don't want this to end up like the Shukri Abdi case :( :i83dwbv:.

the police and family stated that in his snapchat it said "bad bad news" they will not show due to its sensitive nature from the family but i feel like maybe he was forced to leave they need to look into his work places his friends basically anyone that knew him personally since i dont think it was a random abduction or he fell somewhere unknown.

@General Asad mashallah, you have a considerate side when you are not threatening people with violence

@sigmund local police reported that there is evidence to suggest his absence is "voluntary" however this is not conclusive
yes i know that and i also believe that but i believe theres more to this willing dissapearence like i think it could be forced.

you must also consider the fact that police will not exert much effort in cases like this

their conclusion could have been made based on negligence or even racism (just like Shukri's case)

@sigmund prosecuters are notorious for deliberately sabotaging or being sloppy with cases that involve minorities. Let us hope he is indeed taking a voluntary leave.

This is what we know so far
    • Abdi was at Target on Friday visiting work friends and left the store.
    • He never showed up for work on Saturday.
    • That's when the store called the family and police.
    • Sgt. Parizek says there's nobody at work that's had any issues with him and nobody at school who has had any issues with him.
    • He disappeared during a winter storm.
      • Abdi does not have a car.
      • His mom went to Target to pick him up around 9:30 Friday night but he never showed.

I found his facebook page. Nothing out of the ordinary: https://www.facebook.com/abdullahi.sharif.524?fref=profile_friend_list&hc_location=profile_browser

His mother should be worried. There is an uptick (although isolated) racist incidents happening in Iowa. Ex: https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...-mexican-hit-black-child-same-day-police-say/

ofcourse it is although it is making headlines like i was suprised when it came on business insider very big newspaper so it is getting some attention which is good and they did say they will continue to investigate but i feel like this will die down and forgotten about soon and will finally come up with " we found no evidence to suggest foul play" shukri abdi case is being investigated as possible homicide because of the wide attention and outrage of the public and the evidence is overwhelming so they are forced to open the case...

Why didnt the mother report her son missing when he didnt show up to meet his mum ?? the store had to inform the mother the next day that her son didnt show up? and yeah i heard about that subhanallah lets pray and hope he wasnt a victim of that road rage incident although it could be a likely scenario

@sigmund possible theories

  • He and his mum got into an argument and he decided to go to his friends house to cool off? Hence why she didn't report him?
  • Sharif's mother said she spent the last 12 days crying in her son's room.
  • @Abdi Caato looks like the De Moines Police Department are starting to not believe the 'he left voluntary' bit.

"I've had people say to me: 'He's an adult. What if he just decided to leave?' Well, if he's an adult and decided to leave, that's OK, but there is nothing here to indicate that's what happened," said Sgt. Paul Parizek, with Des Moines police.
