Doing some research online, I found that the creators of this method, John Mew and his son, were kicked out of the British Orthodontist society.

An excerpt from a letter written by an actual orthodontist on his opinion of John Mew in a medical journal:

"During my 25-year career as an orthodontist I have lost count of the number of times Dr Mew has had his controversial views published in the BDJ. Now he has self-published a 354 page book which costs £140, and is of 'limited relevance to the general practitioner or dental student, but specialists will be able to reach their own conclusions..." https://www.nature.com/articles/sj.bdj.2014.707

It was picked up and popularized by Body Dysmorphia forums and Incels online. There's been no study on this and it's just heresay, projection, and insecure folk trying to find a solution to their perceived deficiencies.
