I lived most of my life in Germany and up until about 2010ish nobody knew anything about Somalis, but as the number of Somalis started increasing I could sense the vibe of increased Somalophobia. Now they have become a known group with stereotypes. Before they were like, who/what?

Is there any group of humans that are left with a positive impression about Somalis? Like seriously, it has to be a talent to not be liked by anyone you come into contact with. It makes things like finding work abroad more difficult.

Our reputation in Africa and the Middle East is still quite good. And I'm sure if you went to East Asia, the only thing they know about Somalis is piracy.

Somali reputation is really good in Malaysia since there's no caydh. So they're either there for business or for study. Their reputation is so good that they have Nigerians calling themselves Somali in order to get better reception since all they are known for is drug smuggling there.

The middle east is one of the few places where somalis are accepteed with open arms and that's because the ayrabs won't hesitate to deport folks with the quickness if they step out of line.
