Alot of Africans don't speak their native language. Alot of them can only speak either English or French. Those that can speak their native language still have French as their first language. So what was the point of this stunt?

It's no different from the Oromos that speak Somali in Dir Dhaba. As for Djibouti, since the majority of population is Somali, who are also dominating the country; it's thus inevitable that they end up learning Somali. Making Somali as an official language or decreasing the influence of French will only speed on this development.

Removing French as an official language of an ethnically diverse African country will only create unnecessary problems. Unless they're opting for English, making one of the local languages would entail opposition from the non-native speakers. It was the main reason western languages was chosen as the lingua franca in former colonial countries to have a neutral ground. The only exception, in theory, are countries with an ethnic majority population like Djibouti.
French is a cursed language and culture. No african country that speaks French has progressed.
If they cant speak Somali (they shouldn’t) then they can speak Arabic or make it regional like Belgium

That's a possibility, but the capital have at least 60-70% of the entire country's population. Which would make such a change pointless.
