No it's not france went through 100 years of civil war and were being kept down by the rest of Europe they went straight from that to conquering all of Europe under napoleon. We just need a visionary leader who has the countries best interest at heart.
Nearly every superpower has gone through ups and downs worse then us 30 years is nothing compared to what people have come back from to reach greater heights throughout history. Japan/china/England/russia/Sweden/prussia/Italy/France/Indonesia/Philippines etc are all examples of down in the dirt into success stories and there are many more examples but I can't be bothered to list them all.
