Major Development in Western Sitti

Efforts are underway to repatriate Ciise to the disputed villages in Western Sitti which they had fought with Afar over who had ENDF backing.

The president of the Afar region has visited Cundhufo and another village called Qodhanjale to instruct the Afar residents to vacate, facilitating the return of the Ciise.

Today, the news emerged as the SRS and the Federal Minister of Peace of Ethiopia discussed the plan to repatriate the Ciise back to the villages from which they were displaced.

This leads me to believe that the proposed railway to the naval base in Lughaya and possibily to Berbera port will be the existing one to Djibouti and then through Sitti. It makes sense as most of the coast consists of flat land to construct on. This signifies IOG's role in the entire plot.

Ethiopia also doesn't want Ciise endangering the railway, as they have done in the past by derailing it. Therefore, they are pushing to defuse all tensions between Ciise and Afar.

How many Somalis were displaced from western sitti I heard a couple hundred thousand ?
Furthermore, more than 200,000 civilians, mostly nomadic pastoralists have been forcefully displaced ultimately ending up in congested makeshift IDP settlements scattered across all towns in Sitti zone without any aid or shelter.
A lot but I hope their attempts to smooch ciise proves futile. Ciise elders in Awdal already came out rejecting the said MOU. Now the government ought to fight this nonsense.
I think this is a Shirqool. They are lording this newfound peace over Ciise's heads. They will be repatriated to be massacred by the Afar (with ENDF) once again if they make a move in the North. It all sounds too good to be real.

Interesting development. Repatriating the displaced people is a great initiative, but unless there's a political change on the status of the 'disputed' land, I don't think it's going last long before we see another clashes/displacement soon.

I wonder if a special Somali zone (in Afar) is part of the current peace proposals again? They made the same proposals over the decades, but the local refused those suggestions as they wanted to remain in DDS.

Afars, along with their allies in Addis, will never accept a referendum to let them decide their fate. I wouldn't be surprised if they're given this ultimatum, even if they may not fully onboard.

I highly doubt that they'll build railway lines any time soon. It's way too expensive and Ethiopia doesn't have the financial means to make it happen. Roads aren't cheap either.

They'll likely use existing roads and build new ones primarily in Awdal, from the borders with DDS until the coast.

I'm hearing the meeting in Jigjiga has already failed. The Minister of Peace proposed to repatriate Ciise but the land would remain under Afar region. Minister of Peace said that the Afar wouldn't fully be removed from the disputed land since the Ethiopian State settled them there in the first place according to Deegaan Media. The SRS Is also skeptical of it. This is definitely a Shirqool.

Yikes! That's a recipe for disaster. The Ethiopian state in this context is a code work for an agenda that the Afar gov't is behind. Their people were settled there so it would prevent Somalis from returning and prolonging the end of political 'dispute'.

Great on the DDS administration for being cautious. Outside of the political aspect, if the displaced are to be returned, there has to be some type of security assurances in which Somali peace keeping personnel or similar agreement are in place. Otherwise, it needs to completely rejected as Afar militias/liyuu nor ENDF can't be trusted.

Why they evicted them in the first place then? Something fishy here sxb, but lets hope it will materialise

Is IOG afar himself?? Seriously the guy don’t feel for his fellow Ciise folks at all I get that he’s responsible for jabuuti but at least show that you care do something. Somali galbeed sent firefighters to reer Hargeisa when fire started there they’ve put ethiopianity to the side and said Somalinimo comes first. He needs to stop eating croissant potato faced príck.

That man has no care for Somalis and I refuse to believe he ever did. Uncle Ruckus looking mf sat on his ass and does little to nothing for his people. Any other ambitious leader would've made Djibouti the Singapore of the horn of Africa but he's squander all the advantages he's had to build a legacy.

If I get displaced by a drought or flood does it mean i was evicted?

Caqligu ha shaqeeyo.
I didn't get what you are trying to say but I thought that eviction means forciful displacement of someone from his home, I will check my dictionary

Let's not go around in circles. There's nothing stopping the Ciise from going back to those lands.

Weren't they evicted by ENDF in the first place? Is it due to the increasing pressure on ethiopia thats making them reconsider their genocidal policy?

Anyway that would be great news, guul i.a
