I never lived in a tower my life, this tower was in a wealthy area Chelsea & Kensington, but the residents are mostly minorities and working class cadaans.
Ealing is not uff, apart from the Acton roadmen were pretty civilised.

The building was terribly constructed, blame tory cuts. Cheap flammable cladding was used.Earlier tonight ( when I was eating suhuur) I saw this on Bbc news and I'm surprised that a fire can engulf a Western building like that. Usually you see stuff like that in third world countries with their inferior building construction
Journalists can be so insensitive sometimes. I understand it's their job, but how can they shove a camera in his face only a few hours after such a traumatising event?
Mostly muslims/blacks and some white working class people.Waar I'm looking at news clips and almost every one there looks like African
Shit.
It's sad that these residents were not advised about such precautions like this happening.
I'm wondering if people in apartments opposite my house were advised. Perhaps this could be a problem in West London.
I know we have a housing crisis in West London, and maybe other parts of London, but this incident is actually so sad.

I am saddened that it took a fatal and horrific incident such as this to reveal the unsafe conditions of these tower blocks to the media !
The residents have warned the authorities on many occasions only for it to fall on deaf ears. They have blood on their hands!
This just feeds more in to the fact that certain people's lives are worth less than others
Im not in fucking ealing uffey

It's because they're building all these new buildings super fast with no regard for health and safety and build quality. There was another huge flat fire like this in Barnet awhile back and the government had to fine the council for shitty regulations and breach of h&s
If you look at the quality of recent houses/flats then you can tell the construction work is shoddy at best. They're desperately trying to catch up with the housing crisis and throwing everything in the wind![]()
I wish we could live in such a tower as a couple.
Are you and your 7 kids living in such a tower. Notice I didn't include a husband![]()

Having been in that building before, there's only 1 stairwell. We (flat tenants) have individual fire alarms in flats, there's no sprinkler system. If there is a fire in a flat, each floor has its own fire hydrant so that's how firefighters get their water. Given that the fire happened on the 4th floor, it would be near impossible to help people. The only stairwell is filled with smoke and people are probably tripping over each other to get down. It's over 100 flats.
Once some children started a fire under the first floor stairs of my flat using some Argos booklets. The fire alarms did not go off and it was only until it reached the door that we noticed smoke in the middle of the night. We were told to stay put and we did until the fire fighters came. Suffice to say the alarm was not working and it was replaced. What's interesting in this case is how quickly it engulfed the building and it is very likely the refurbishment has something to do with it.
