I know of people here in North America who've gotten bullied. If you were miskeen, studious, and slightly autistic (or even the first two) they were picking on you. All the ethnic groups were. I dont really know why but they have a set stereotype of how a Madow/African should be like so if you do not fit it they ruthlessly bullied you. The only way they accepted you was if you were a clown in the suburbs I grew up in.

Suburbs have the best schools so people will always flock to them. The best way to raise your children in the suburbs is by getting them to start making friends pretty early in life. Also place them in sports and other extra curriculars just so they can live the same middle class lifestyle like the rest of their peers.

@Taintedlove why the meh? I’m not wrong, you’re a new user on Somali spot , and you clearly aren’t aware of how much threads like this get posted every week, like theres deadass hundreds of threads here about this with the same opinions getting posted every week.

I get it but I don't like the dismissive attitude towards these important topics. If you don't want to contribute to these threads just ignore them. Did you experience any of the bullying during this period?

I’m not trying to dismiss importance of talking about this, I have no problem with people talking about the racism somalis have faced, I’m sorry if it came across that way, my issue is with how much we talk about it, for example in that other thread about the UK lady who had fgm done on her, she mentions fgm all time, she got mocked on twitter for it, is the guy who mocked her being dismissive of the seriousness of fgm? No he’s simply pointing out how tiring it is for her to mention it all the time.

To further substantiate my point, when I first joined Somali spot I would routinely engage in these type of discussions, because again I have no issue with this topic, I stopped doing it now because there’s a thread about this every two days!!!! not to mention some of the users here play so hard into the victim narrative and use it to justify their own racism towards madows, like other users have pointed out, it’s all so exhausting.

I’m 18 so I was a very young during those days, so I didn’t really experience xenophobia, but with my generation or days in secondary school, i would get somali jokes or stereotypes thrown around, , but it was just jokes and they did that to
eyeryone.

I'm far more ciritical of the somali incel subculture and somalis in general than MANY on this forum, I call out the hate we distribute to other communities more than anyone on here, but wallahi few things grind my gears more than people dismissing what the somali diaspora in England specifically had to endure and why we hold the wider black community in this country more accountable for the hate we received despite the hate coming from many different angles

(none of this is me justifying the current climate of somali trolls acting like chimpanzees to other black people on social media, and I'm fully aware that most of this died down organically around 2016/17, but it's 100% more than just some pirate jokes from when we were little kids on the playground)

Somali incel trolls do not justify any of the smoke we get. We are extremely small minority, even if we had a huge incel (which we don't). It does not justify half of the discrimination and hate we get. Stop cooning people.

The only reason why he’s complaining of because of Somali troll using the J word online, which I don’t see as a big deal. Tbh Somalis are the some of the least racist people. In real life you will see a random Somali group of 20 boys with 1 random Cadaan or Madow kid who is practically adopted by the Somalis. Madows or cadaans are not like that.
