Your mother fled inter-USC fighting. After USC massacred Daarood civilians, they turned on each other and then Hawiye citizens were affected. In Mogadishu, there was a war between Abgaal and HG and HG also attacked Murursade.

my mom fled in 1991, literally the night fighting broke out. the interhawiye fighting happened years later.

she did return to banadir in the late 90's tho, unlike her some of the others decided to stay in lower shabelle. (afgoye, barawe, merka, wanalweyne).

just facts.

obviously there are some disputes (mostly in the cities), but as i said its getting resolved peacefully.

Yeah, I know HG who were helped to escape Mogadishu by HG during 1991... whilst HG were massacring and raping civilians. Not only Daarood but also the Arab minority communities.

Many Hawiye fled to the West even though their own men were turning the capital city upside down! Daarood civilians were baffled to be honest, wtf was the point??

I don't know what the hell went wrong or why Hawiye allowed their people to go ape-shit but whatever.
