London Somalis, the ones who grew up there, have awful accents. The worst of both worlds.

i've heard a few of their accents on discord, they're probably my favourite out of the bunch.

not ridiculously strong or posh in any way. just a subtle variance to the standard american/canadian one. maybe we just don't have dumb somali people from london on this site i dunno.

Dialect in England is linked to class standing, the bottom of the barrel have the same dialects. Chavs among others. You could just be an elitist and expect to hear the Upper Class dialect when you communicate.

The secular London Somalis are one of the best diaspora Somalis to hang with. They can be a bit boring and judgemental but they're cool and they're honest people.

The only issue I have is the Salafis in the community. There really is unofficial Sharia police there and they will drag you to the masjid by force and with initimidation for Tuesday duhur prayer if you're seen outside.

You cant live a secular life there in the open. There's little freedom to be yourself. You have to live a double life and live in a non Somali area and also at the same time avoid the Pakistanis and Bangladeshis and revert Jamaicans.

I've seen a hijabi girl become a transformer and take off her hijab as she was going into a shisha spot. The situation there is quite serious and there are secular Somalis there crying for help

It shouldn't be accepted. I told one of my rare secular cousins I am a supporter of gay marriage and he told me to not voice this in public and to keep it to myself even though he has no problem with it himself. Gay marriage is legal there and it was still a hush hush thing.

You need to stop equating LGBT rights with general Western culture. It is still a relatively new thing that hasn't been internally accepted by all Westerners.
