The thing is, there's only two 'big' cities (populations over a million) in the UK, London and Birmingham. And Birmingham is kinda shit.

If you visit the UK, I'd recommend Manchester and Edinburgh. Personally, i think they're great, possibly world class cities.

Common misconception. Greater Manchester is actually bigger than Greater Birmingham and both have almost 3 million people. People just think Birmingham is bigger because of the “second capital of the UK” title the brumites always boast about

Yeah, i know greater Manchester is huge, but it's a county that includes 8/9 towns (Bolton, Rochdale, Wigan, Oldham etc).

The city of Manchester has ~550k people, whereas Birmingham city is twice the size.
