I was not given a permit to go to Massawa, since some politicians were visiting it
So what did you see there? Are people really slaves? Is Asmara and Keren majority Muslim or Christian? Any Somalis or anything that stood out?

Asmara was actually 50/50. Certain areas mainly Christian and other major area Muslim. Certain places were combined
Keren was a mainly majority Muslim
Assab was a afar area, with afar mainly spoken
In Asmara, I saw a Somali man, who went to Asmara in 1987. According to him, served in the ethio-eriteria war, and was awarded money. a house, car and even a wife. He created a business including a resturan and now lives there well off. He stood out to me

I was a student living in a comfy dorm next to my University, exploring a World-class futuristic city in Shanghai that is VERY international and foreigner-friendly and I didn't worry about money. That's why I can say I loved China while I was there.
To live in permanently and work in? China turns into a fucking nightmare.
For a student, not worrying about money? It's paradise
I went to Bejing, Shanghai, Urumqi and Gangzhou and I can tell you, It was beautiful

It's developed AF, not much you have prepare for. Only getting halal food will be in issue if you only eat halal.
I went there primarily for business reasons and stayed in and near Seoul. Didn't really travel through the countryside much. On that same trip then I quickly visited Japan since it was nearby and I didn't need a visa.
China you have to get a visa in advance and is more difficult to visit.

thats the interior were talking coastal cities where the wealth is generated, its obviously richer then any of those other countries you mentioned so you can expect a higher standard of living
