I've heard stories of jiins in animal form confronting people back home. A habaryar I know swears she had an encounter with one when she was a young girl in Xamar. One day, she picked a stray cat from Suuqa Bakaraha, took it to their home and fed it. Soon as the cat was done eating, she started talking in af somaali "Nayaa! Meesha iga keente hada iguceeli!" Translation: Nayaa, put me back where you took me from right now!

Habaryar freaked out, put the cat in a basket and started running all the was back to the suuq. She said she was terrified and functioning on adrenaline rush to put the unhinged spirit back at its place.

To make things worse, this cat had the audacity to keep cursing my habaryar on the way "doqon yahey, kaw aa kaa siiniyaa mar dambe hadaa isoo qaadid". Translation; You dumb ass b**%%, I'll kill you if you ever take me again.

Soon as she reached the place she picked the cat from, it transformed into this huge shadow thing and ran, stomping off into a dark alley..

Qori is maaris brings back memories :chrisfreshhah:I remember my cousin telling me a story about a lady with an infant child going through the empty lands of Somalia when she encountered men who shaped shifted right in front of her (while she hid). The shit kept me awake, I was so convinced that those things would kidnap me and put sixir on me 😭

Symptoms of schizophrenia are more likely to make people hear and see things. I wonder which parts of the brain is affected for someone to imagine an animal talking to them..

Funny thing is that shape shifters are a common theme in all cultures.

My native Canadian classmate in uni told me a shape shifting story in their culture. What I found interesting was how her story was similar to the childhood stories my ayeeyo, mum and aunts told us growing up.

How it is possible for 2 cultures in the opposite ends of the world, that have never had any contact with each other, to experience these supernatural phenomena unless there's a possibility?

Let me tell you guys what sparked this conversation 😅

So my professor brought up Kary Mullis story last week. A famous biochemist who won Nobel prize for discovering the polymerase chain reaction. He claims a fluorescent racoon talked to him, which may or may not be an alien, and that's how he got his idea of PCR. It's one thing to hear such stories in non-science spaces but a whole scientist with a Nobel prize saying an animal talked to him!! Of course, I googled more about him. Let's just say the guy had lots of controversial opinions but he was never diagnosed with mental illness..

I hate to seem controversial, but the supernatural world is very real. There are a lot of things that are just too universal to be explained away as myths.

If you believe in any religion, you're bound to believe in the supernatural world to some extent.. Still, I think I'll lose it if something as harmless as a sugar ant were to speak to me 🤯

This is jiin not quri maris 😂 in Islam and Hadith jin and shaytan can shape shift to cat form but quri maris can only change to hyena that kinda look like werewolf. Kenya and Tanzania have the same story and they call them hyena man.

I think the human mind functions by ignoring or brushing off strange events. Like in your example, if an ant did indeed speak to you, more than likely that you would convince yourself it never happened after a few weeks.

Somali women are more frequently prone to Schizo voices. For example the Xaliima who went camping in the forest alone here in the west and made a tik tok vid about it

The extra testosterone is messing with their bio female brain make up

Wait, we have werewolves in Somali mythology?!

I learnt that qori is mariis are jinn that can shape shift into anything including humans. Werewolves are cool ngl, I'm gonna look into this hyena man story.. 👍

That would be average "enlightened" atheist..

I'll prolly make lots of istighfaaar but after a while..

That's the average "enlightened" atheist for you. According to them, if it can't be tested through the scientific method, it doesn't exist.

Looool, why do you not like her? She recently made another tiktok where she took other halimos to camping. She's cool..

I believe camping brings out our free spirited and creative nature which are prime feminine traits 😉
