Nah, Osmanya is beautiful and our own. I'm upset it wasn't chosen. All it needed was a bit of tweaking to make it easier and we could've made writing so much prettier instead of the whole have x, c, aa, uu, oo, ee, ii. That stuff is ugly lmao.

I think bringing back a modified and simplified Wadaad script would be best for the Somali language.
Using this script would keep us in touch with the Qur'an and our historical heritage (Somalis used to write everything in this script or in Arabic).
I suppose a compromise could be to use a simplified Wadaad script with additional Osmanya characters for sounds/phonemes unique to Somali

Yes! I love all of those three. They are much better than Wadaad and Latin.
Sxb all these scripts were made in the the 20th century wadaad has been used throughout somalia's history bringing back means the future generation could read old texts written in wadaad plus it would be easier to teach Quran and arabic since we don't have to teach the abjd

You can always translate it, it wouldn't be that hard at all. I would much rather our country use our own made scripts. That's just my opinion, however. It gives us another sense of national identity.
@government woke up this morning, got a piece of paper and brainstormed. He made a list of the most annoying things he could come up with to trigger people and went with this one.
Well in my opinion even if translated it won't have the same effect cause the government or anyone may either change it or edit what it wants out this is what happened in Turkey when they switched over plus reclaiming our history is the best way of having national identity instead of creating something new for it

When I see Arabic, I don't think of Somalia. I think of Arab countries. There should a way to make a Wadaad script both unique to Somalia and thus representative of Somalinimo whilst maintaining ties to our religion and heritage.
Imagine we have everyone learn Wadaad and you can read Somali scripts from like 900 AD. What would be even better is if we reintegrate the most ancient Somali scripts (the Siad Barre regime found the oldest indigenous alphabet) and repurpose them. Imagine seeing them used as symbols for road signs, etc.
You will notice nations generally base their scripts on their religious tradition. Latin in Christendom, Arabic in the Islamic world, Sanskrit in the Hindu world, the Buddhist nations use Pali, etc.
Heck Japan doesn't like China and yet they share a script based on common tradition- Kanji (which are literally Chinese characters).
