One thing I’ve noticed is that Somalis speak extremely positively about Djibouti all the time. I’m all for supporting the development of anything Somali-related, Somali people from Somalia need to realise that we can't just go to Djibouti and become Djiboutian citizens.

So, when Somalia develops, we need to have the same energy for Djibouti. No Djiboutian citizen should be granted Somali citizenship unless they live in or have ties to mainland Somalia. We need to protect our sovereignty the same way they protect theirs.

It’s not about skewing clan demographics. The point is that Somalis from Somalia are Somali, and if Djibouti doesn’t want to give them citizenship based on Somalinimo, why should we provide them with citizenship based on that? As I said before, all we are doing is reciprocating their energy it’s nothing malicious if Kenya can give Somalis citizenship and welcome them in Nairobi, why can’t Djibouti?
