So far in my life I have only really wished I could speak Mandarin on a number of occasions. Mainly for good Chinese software I came across on the web that I couldn't understand as it wasn't translated yet.

I would choose Arabic as well, but I don't know which dialect I should take up.
Same, I heard there's modern standard Arabic and colloquial Arabic (Dialects). From what I heard, Modern standard Arabic is the neutral dialect spoken on TVs and newspapers. People speak it (Modern standard Arabic) if they can't understand each others dialects. I don't know which one to learn so I'm planning to ask an Arabic speaker how the language works and what is mutual.

If you want to learn a dialect then I don't know since I'm not an Arabic speaker. My cousins from the UAE told me the Khaleeji (Gulf) dialect is the best dialect.

@Karim sxb, what's the best way to learn Arabic?

Interesting, isn't Mandarin one of the hardest languages to learn? I'm guessing i'll take a lot of time to be fluent in that language.

Amen to that.

All the DIY electronic systems are instructed in mandarin . I was developing a wireless people counter and needed to use an online database for a web based output a few years ago.

The esp8266 was the most affordable wireless module and based in china and you needed to understand mandarin for the instructions.

China is moving forward rapidly by taking chip maufacturing plants etc.

I advise somalis to learn either Spanish , english or mandarin. Arabic is a useless language yet bombarded onto us.

They literally have new sounds in their language which are extremelt subtle. Its an ancient language which takes alot of effort to grasp its complexity.

What languages are you interested in and would like to learn? I would choose Arabic and Improving my Somali.

Arabic, French, Xamar dialect and Italian. I tried learning a language but Wallahi I tend to lose interest so quickly and just stop until I regain the motivation again in a couple months time.

For me, I could probably learn any language possible if I put the time in and stopped being lazy. Also I often think that travelling to the country I’m learning the language of would help me by greatly speeding up my learning of everyday words and convos etc because I’d be forced to speak the language in order to do necessary things.

I also want to improve my Somali because it’s lacking and I don’t want to go to Somalia because of how embarrassing this issue is.

Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Somali (needs improvement) and Arabic. Those have been my only interests.
