I don’t think it’s permissible in Islam, I would never do it for money but maybe for my sisters, like if this was the only option for them to have a baby.

But some women choose surrogacy to have their own children because they don't want to deal with pregnancy complications. They can also afford it and the husband is okay with it.

Personally I don't want to carry someone's child but if the tables were turned..
