To be honest I'm semi-trolling, I'm aware of the challenges and I am familiar with the challenging endeavors teenagers face nowadays, but I learned from the failures of other somali parents as to treating the daughter and the son with the same amount of strictness and not favoring one over the other.

on the other hand, I have friends with insanely strict parents, they take off their hijabs on the bus and party like there's no tomorrow. most of the time they just want to stick it to their parents, they never think about god.
it's best that you teach your kids to fear Allah and not you.

That has nothing to do with restrictions tho. Many kids learn to fear Allah and are allowed to do as they please. All it takes is one bad influence and they're gone too.
