There definently were in Toronto in the late 80s. There were many from what I have been told. The top two professions that time were taxi drivers and security guards. There was also huge clan divisions back then. People from rival clans were beaten up, some even with metal rods.

I don't see any reason to lie about your ethnicity. I never have.

Each Somali Uber Driver I've met was very nice to me. I actually talk to them and they appear very respectful and often tell me many Somali girls lie about their ethnicity or possess an attitude in this city.
I have to tell the adeers its just how they were raised and its quite individual. Not reflective of all Somalis. I think we forget that as Somalis we are an ethnicity with all sorts of personalities with the good as well as the bad.

Every Uber driver I had was nice and wanted to have great customer ratings. Even the odey somalis will be nice to you and make you comfortable whether you riding with a Madow boyfriend or what not.
