What you say when you are out of the power is different than what you will say when you are in poweer.

KMT is more like china when it comes to China's unity, and they didn't like confrontation with china. Having nice relation with china is in KMT and the businessmen interest.

During KMT time in power they had the most number of international partners which quickly declined with the current government.

When you're not in power is when you share policies different to that of the government if you disagree with it.

You foolishly assume KMT = union party so it's not black or white.Stop putting in Somaliland in an sssue where they are not directly involved in.

Infact if you read KMT position they push for stronger relations with Somaliland.

To entertain your line of thinking that KMT = union party.All the current "allies" that recognise Taiwan would follow the one China policy.Somaliland is an unique position where if they adhere to one China policy wouldn't they have strong support for recognition within China due to Taiwan connections.

The reason why the Taiwan connection will remain even under the one China is because of Taiwanese state oil company will be drilling for oil in Somaliland.At the end of the day their interests allign which is money and trade which is something Somalia will never provide as a vessel state of the west and kept together by African troops.

@Cognitive what do you think of the election results?

To be honest with you? This is just like a cycle. KMT gets a hold of the power, and after a few years it’ll bounce back to DPP.
Anyway right now many youngsters resent the Tsai government.

Anyway KMT is not necessarily “pro-unification”. They however, are rather gray regarding this. But meh, DPP is not necessarily “pro-independence” either. Newer generations of both parties prefer to stick to the current situation. Point is PRC is becoming increasingly aggressive and that is something my generation (and beyond) should understand.
