This party hold a heritage or retaking mainland of China back from the communist party for over 80 years. The default mainset was the mainland will be retaking and the ROC (Republic of China) will restore China to its greatness.

2. We are the real China and we will take back the mainland
3. They like the status quo of being in limbo

What you say when you are out of the power is different than what you will say when you are in poweer.

KMT is more like china when it comes to China's unity, and they didn't like confrontation with china. Having nice relation with china is in KMT and the businessmen interest.
