This ban was introduced in PL by Colonel Afgaduud in 2001 nothing new here!

Regardless, it's widely known that khat is not that big of a problem in PL compared to other Somali regions with reer trinagle dominating in that field.
Forget about the males, females in SL are bigger khatheads than males from PL and the south ffs.
This proved to be truer as last year a video of women in Hargeisa chewing khat in group leaked, SL gov tried to stop this from spreading because of humilation.
Khat companies are widely advertised in SL as you can see here, that's a khat company.

The ambiguity of khat in Somaliland.
In Somaliland, the link between Islam and khat is mostly reflected in marketing strategies applied by various khat importers. For example, the main importer brands his khat under the name of 571, which refers to the year the prophet Mohammed was born (cf. Anderson et al., 2007:59). Similarly, another khat brand, now out-competed during a price war with the 571 brand, was marketed under the name of B611, which refers to the year when the prophet Mohammed received his first revelation.
When khat importers such as the 571 and B611 brands compete for market shares, the price of khat is lowered substantially enabling a larger number of poorer consumers to buy cheap khat. Moreover, the fact that the price of khat falls during the day has surely enabled poorer and young consumers to develop a habit of chewing khat. In this sense, the recent growth in khat consumption reflects the existence of an unregulated market.

@shum33 If Isaaq are leaders of Somalia, why don't we see any evidence even on Somalispot they come up with one Idea that all Somalis say 'wow' thanks we didn't know that.
