Kenyans praise Somaliland, call Somalia a shithole.

Am I missing something or did you just screenshot a source that says SL has the fourth lowest GDP per capita in the world. That was in 2012; now, Somaliland is lower than Malawi and has the third lowest gdp per capita in the world. :pachah1:

you’re talking about improvement when you dropped below 4th lowest in the world. The irony :cryinglaughsmiley:

You made the statement that we would be the worst in the world. I proved you wrong. As for current GDP per capita in Somaliland, it's all an estimation there hasn't been significant studies on it as it difficult to do so as it's a defacto state :fantasia2:

I said it would be the sh*ttiest country NOT in conflict. I didn’t say it would be the poorest country.

For example DRC has extremely high rates of malaria and they have african rebels who control mines and child soldiers.

You’re on par with Burundi. Except burundi has higher education rates, and less corruption.

SL would probably be last or second last nationally speaking. The worst part is that it’s a much smaller nation than the bottom, and has much less potential to grow. Proving me wrong by saying “SL isn’t the worst! It’s the 3rd worst!” isn’t really proving me wrong but is actually driving my point home

what I meant by source was more info, that literally gave me the same amount of info you gave me. I wanted to find out who owns it, funded it, and its production levels. Is there not even any info on which company owns it?

For all I know it’s an ethiopian businessman who saw that soaps and face masks are good money during the covid-19 pandemic so invested it in Somaliland. Then all the revenue will be going back to him.
In terms of who specifically owns the factory, i am not quite sure. Im sure @TimaJilic would probably be able answer these questions however. If i had to guess, i'd bet that locals are managing the factory.

Putting these specific details aside, the fact remains that it is supplying the locals with resources that would benefit them such as sanitation commodities, especially during a time where people need to take caution, it has proven to be a step forward in progress and development

Yet you conveniently forgot to mention Somaliland doesn't have direct access to international monetary funds and the world bank. Also, it's currently part of Somalia which is the most fragile state in the world which as result deters Investors to Somaliland. If it were to be its own country it'll achieve strong growth as it has a strong base with a constitution and rule of law. :banderas:
I would see the country top the charts for economic growth across the whole world.

Instead of fixing their own failed country and enclave (including buqlayn pirate state) they want to hate on and belittle the undeniable success story that is Somaliland. What a pity

"AlL yOu HaLf Iz PEaCE" says the somalian country whose asshole is torn to pieces by 20k foreign troops and terrorists:mjlol:

Somaliland is out performing African countries, Somalia included, on almost every metric without any form of recognition or access to IMF Funds. Once access to funds is achieved we'll see our true capabilities.

I used the term peace loosely. Somaliland is no more peaceful than djibouti. It just doesn’t have terrorist groups and a civil war at the moment. That’s all it has going for it

Why set the condition of in conflict. As if being unrecognized and having no access to funds is not one of the biggest conflict a country could face in modern times

when I say conflict I mean a country like Algeria where multiple countries are literally battling it out in their country. Which is an unfair comparison. This is because if it wasn’t for that Algeria would be doing a lot better.

I don’t mean conflicts like it doesn’t get along with its neighbors.

But fine, go ahead and name any 5 african countries. As long as you believe it’s a fair comparison.

Bro he is a dhulo. The president they support 24/7 doesnt even care about them and refused to create khatumo state :drakelaugh:

That explains everything. A sane person would just accept the progress and throw in a few criticisms but this brother is 100000% negative to point he firmly believes Somaliland will never see growth if it becomes an independent country and it doesn't see that SL has a functioning government with a constitution that the people conjured up :tacky:

the fact that we're praising SL for doing the bare minimum (maintaining peace for 30 years) and achieving nothing else but a foreign owned port shows how tragic our situation is.

Worst part about it is you'll see SLers being proud of the fact that they sat around and ate khat for 30 years. I'd rather be in war for that time so I at least have an excuse. 3 decades but not a single worthwhile improvement.

not even hating, wallahi I'd be happy if Somaliland showed potential. But the longer this goes on the more I realize what awaits for Somalis if we keep being disunited.

The port is not owned by anyone aside from Somaliland. The operations department is what is shared based on the percentages. Also whatever comes out as profit is constantly being reinvested. These deals are common throughout the world

-Prior to the DP World deal, Berbera port was capable of only unloading 2-3 containers per hour. It now does 30 containers per hour, more than 10x increase in capability.

- Prior to the DP World deal, Berbera port was handling 5000 containers. The port now handles 17,000 containers monthly.

- $11 million was invested by Somaliland's government (not DP World) in the purchasing of tug and pilot boats, specifically made for Berbera.

- 35 international companies already reserved spots within the Berbera Freezone, which will partner with Dubai's Jebel Ali.

Regarding Somaliland.

- Overcame a state sponsored genocide and reestablished its Sovereignty. After that it was destabilized by UNISOM(UN) who wanted to force SL into Somalia as a federal state pumped money into the hands of various factions. This caused a civil war. Somaliland overcame that as well. It mediated with all clans, many of which were actively trying to wipe out Isaaq with state sponsored arms. Only an ungrateful stain who possibly has deep seeded hate sees peace given these circumstances as a small feat.

In the last 10 years alone SL accomplished this and much more

-Free Primary, Intermediary and Secondary education(unheard of in many countries)

-Opening of Livestock market and quarantine facilities

-DP World investment in Berbera Port

-Hargeisa and Berbera airport upgrade

-Ceerigaabo road

-Hargeisa Water Expansion

-Berbera Water Expansion(+25%)

-Lascaanood water expansion(+25%)

-National Parties were opened

- Election registration through IRIS voting unheard of in modern democratic countries)

-Created and maintained own currency and expanded the changed from Somalian Shillings to SL shillings from Burco to Ceerigaabo to Lascaanood

-National institutions were re constructed defense planning NEC and others

-Budget went from 50 Million to over +250Million USD

-Dila borama road was built

-Armed forced ranked

-Foreign policy allowed for ties with Lenya and Taiwan

-Full funding of our elections and upcoming projects(Burao Oodweyne road)

-Electricity costs reduced by more than half from $1/Kw to less than 60 cents/Kw

- Successfull Oil explorations surveyed and completed

- Berbera-Wajaale corridor

- Active Marines with modern equipment and boats

- Small scale Government mining and fishing

- Government supported small-medium scale farming throughout the country

- Civil servants and Army men salaries almost tripled

-Built countless intercity roads

- Collects different forms of Taxes from Boorame to Ceerigaabo and Lascanood and beyond

I could keep listing more successes for days on end, this is excluding the private sector as well, but what's the point. If you appreciate than Ahlan wa sahlan. But if you have tribal motivated cuqdad than f*ck you and have a nice day mate

You forgot to mention that the government collects import TAX on goods that come into the country. So the more containers the port can handle the greater the import TAX collected. The percentage that SL holds in the deal is the profits from the port service charge that DP world collects as that's how all port business works which is not the import TAX :heh:.

Yeah there's a lot that I left out but why bother. Many Somalians hate Somaliland due to their tribal hatred for the majority clan, Isaaq. It's nothing else at all. The way they hate us you would think it was us under Barre that tried to wipe them out. Needless to say, F*k them mate. Somaliland is making positive strides and will soon reach its end goal
