OPINION Kenyans praise Somaliland, call Somalia a shithole.

Instead of fixing their own failed country and enclave (including buqlayn pirate state) they want to hate on and belittle the undeniable success story that is Somaliland. What a pity

Just read their comments, there's an unhealthy level of cuqdaad and obssession toward SL beyond belief

Imagine spending all that energy online hating on people that don't give a f*ck about your existence

Exactly, jealousy is a disease whereby instead of lifting yourself up you want to bring others down to your lowly position

Gokboru

Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.
Cheap propaganda. Kenyans are trying to get back at Somalia for the water raw .

Somaliland is in a better position than any other Somali state, what you've just said is ignoring/downplaying many of the achievements Somaliland has made in the last 30 years

The peace we've experienced made it easier to secure foreign investment such as the Berbera port that would not only rival competitors in the region but also would generate enough revenue for the government to upheld more projects, such as expanding education in the region by building over two dozen schools, or solar powered desalination plants, or a trade fair where entrepreneurs/businesmen can freely advertise their products without a shed of fear, or even an agricultural ministry build recently with the aim to boost its agricultural productio/output which is what all Somali inhabited areas need, and what im talking about has mainly happened just this year, imagine how long it'll take to list the last 30 years

The political system in Somaliland is also the best compared to all of its neighbors, local and presidential elections have been scheduled for late this may and these last few months voting stations have been placed all across the state, its the only functioning democracy in the region, the IC has took note of this

None of this is to say we're perfect, we should be striving for much more now and in the future, as with all somalis we have our share of issues, but we ought to have a sense of proportion and understand how much we've accomplished :samwelcome:
foreign invested port, trade fair??? Like a middle school science fair? kkkk, small-scale desalination plants that’ll help a couple of towns.

All of these are either just sad or too small of an achievement to call actual progress. in 30 years the biggest difference between ‘91 SL and ‘21 SL is... there isn’t. Also, don’t get me started on the political system in SL. “better than its neighbours” lol, keep comparing yourself to Somalia, let’s see how far that takes you.

Don't forget international donors contribute less than 5% of the annual budget. That in itself makes Somaliland a miracle nation :banderas:

Dumb zoo Malians, as if a Madow and anyone else really knows the difference between SL and Somalia. So easy to divide zoo Malians, no wonder they live under a dollar a day. :snoop:

The projects I've mentioned earlier are mainly things done so far this year, i dont have the time to list every single thing ever made, what i will show is a whole range of projects done just this year to demonstrate that progress is being made and we havent been laying around all these years, these positive steps in the right direction are only the beginning to what will come for us, progress is being made everywhere, I could've went on with what else is being done in the nation for example, a solar powered system is being built in Laascanood to support hospital and local offcials there, or the recent grand opening of a mall in Burco, both of which were also of this year, these types or peojects are in no way "sad or small of an achievement" these are large feats that you've decided to downplay, and its these sorts of projects that demonstrates that progress is being made all around Somaliland

I don’t need small time projects, tell me something that can be considered a practical achievement over these 30 years, something that completely sets you apart from Somalia. Something that makes you comparable to other nations.

Like infrastructure, factories, food stability etc.

All I see is another wannabe country with a boat load of problems like mass emigration, economic instability, food shortage, poverty, weak government, no national strength, no infrastructure, concrete houses are high class and jiingad houses are middle class (lol), no water resources, high amount of corruption, undemocratic among other things. But hey, at least there’s no bombings.

The Somaliland constitution alone sets it apart from Somalia :gucciwhat:
Somaliland is more of a sovereign nation than Somalia as it can dictate its internal affairs without seeking the approval of foreign donors and etc.Just look at the situation now in which you have people referring to the UN that Farmaajo is still president :mjlol:

Again, comparing yourself to Somalia to feed your own egos. Tell me one nation that SL is better than that isn’t currently in war now. Just one.

If SL suddenly became a country today, it would LITERALLY become the sh*ttiest country in the world that isn’t in conflict. Do you understand that?

I've already demonstrated many projects that have been done in the country just this year proving that development is being done in the region, and that we have much to compliment for, all of these are in it of themselves achievements in their own regard that you're so keen on downplaying, i've already shown you infrastructure projects in terms of the Agricultural Ministry and the beautiful new mall in Burco, however if it is factories you'd like to see, here is a factory plant in Burco, that created face masks and soap for the people in caution for the covid 19 pandemic

In 2013 Somaliland's national budget was US$185.7m. Now in 2021, it is US$340 Million. This signifies the country is growing due to the budget increase in which 95% collected within the country. Now once the Berbera port project is to be completed it'll skyrocket our GDP :rejoice:

Am I missing something or did you just screenshot a source that says SL has the fourth lowest GDP per capita in the world. That was in 2012; now, Somaliland is lower than Malawi and has the third lowest gdp per capita in the world. :pachah1:

you’re talking about improvement when you dropped below 4th lowest in the world. The irony :cryinglaughsmiley:

what I meant by source was more info, that literally gave me the same amount of info you gave me. I wanted to find out who owns it, funded it, and its production levels. Is there not even any info on which company owns it?

For all I know it’s an ethiopian businessman who saw that soaps and face masks are good money during the covid-19 pandemic so invested it in Somaliland. Then all the revenue will be going back to him.
