Kenyan MP and former IRIN Director remarks on 'anarchic opposition'

In this clip the former Senior Producer for the BBC News organization during the 70s and 80s makes a clear analysis on the situation of the early 90s in which many disgruntled rebel group leaders had no clear vision for how they wanted the country to move forward and were only united in their hatred/envy of President Siad Barre. Since these rebel insurgency groups had no clear agenda they had no principles holding them together and thus devolved into clan groups/separatists and fought amongst each other with no clear purpose.

Many can see similar undertones in the dichotomy between the past and today in which some of the oppositional groups have seldom talked about any solutions or plans they have if they were to govern and instead only criticize the current administration and focus on its leadership.

Very interesting video that gives an insight to the political landscape of that time.

MSB also say said “when I come to power Muqdisho was little dusty hamlet if they want chase out of me I will take the country down with me”. He kept his promise. I’m positive he had some sort of Megalomania.
We need to stop the blaming game.A civil war in Somalia was imminent. Somalia was a country that tried to run before it could even walk properly. The entire structure needed to be rebuilt.

His credentials speaks for itself he held an FGS Minister role, a Jubbaland minister and was governor of Gedo back in 2005. He's definitely served his time on the ground and thus earned due.

Unlike random people tweeting from their basement as reporters, or so-called 'analysts' that have no real world experience.

But that is besides the point, mp Hassan Yusuf was at the BBC as a senior producer in the early 90s and talked with the opposition at that time and he provides insight that they had no ideology that would bind them other than to get rid of the government. No plan of action afterwards so the situation devolved into those same rebel groups fighting amongst themselves and other rebel groups becoming separatist entities, primarily the 'snm' insurgency. Afterwards those rebel groups shifted their ideology from warlordism to religious insurgencies which is still around today. And today there are some mucarad that have banded together just to get rid of an admin, but have no ideology tying them together since they all want leadership.

So people using my adheer to gain points. :russ:
