Somalia used to have a sizeable Indian population, so much so that our parliament used to have an Indian quota. Some were in Somaliland as it was a British colony, some were in Xamar due to trade/business, some were in Merka due to cloth dying.

Even today, there are indian migrant workers in Somalia that do engineering work or work as consultants for Somali construction firms.
