Apparently he is a Professor who has been teaching International Relations at University of Nairobi for over a decade, and they're now accusing him of terrorism.

A man alleged to be a Somali Presidential candidate and three Kenyan nationals were detained on Thursday under suspicion of terror related offences in Nairobi.

Ibrahim Kassim Farah, Mohamud Mohamed Bashir, Ali Abdi Mohamed and Hussein Hassan Muhammud were arrested on Wednesday in Muguga area in Kiambu.

Ibrahim Kassim was arrested at his house in South C by Anti-Terrorism Police Unit following a tip-off.

The four suspects appeared before Principal magistrate Peter Okoo at the Milimani Law Courts.

He directed that they be detained for four days to enable detectives from ATPU complete their investigations as was requested.

Detectives revealed that the four were engaging in unclear dealings with regards to the Somali general elections in order to benefit with other associates who are yet to be apprehended.

Ibrahim Farah was allegedly in possession of a Djibouti passport, electoral commission forms, 4 mobile phones, an alien certificate and coloured copies of two Kenyan identity cards.

Is Kenya becoming unsafe for Somalis?

Angela Davis wrote a tiny but telling book about the FBI's impacting arrests of Black Panther Party members in 1972.

While she was confined in the Solided Prison in Los Angeles, California, she foretold that if they come and get your brothers and sisters today, you will be next. And so they were next.

The illegal detention of Professor Ibrahim Bursalid by Kenya's security forces is a form of terrorism and intimidation of Somali inteligentia.

Who is Ibrahim Bursalid? He is a serious and intelligent Somali political analyst who has been teaching politics and international relations at one of Kenya's universities. Bursalid has been living in Kenya for a long time.

I met Bursalid in Djibouti last December. I can authoritatively say this: he is an unwavering Somali patriot and an honest Somali who cares less about materials and more about the wellbeing of his country.

As a matter of fact, when many Somali were smooching with dignitaries from Mogadishu while in private criticizing, Bursalid was one of a handful scholars I found to not give a damn about power and the superficiality that was common at the Djibouti held HERITAGE conference.

To many, Bursalid was radical; to me he was a less nuanced but brutally honest Somali scholar.

The arrest of Professor Bursalid came on the heels of a growing exedus of Somalis out of Nairobi.

On Tuesday, the day of Eid, a former Somali parliamentarian called me from Istanbul. I met this man in Nairobi this past April. He was quick to let me know that he moved his family from Nairobi because of what he perceived as a growing harassment against Somalis.

Another friend called me from Addis and told me the same thing. This is a growing trend that Kenya is becoming less safe to Somalis.

The arrest of Professor Ibrahim Bursalid is very troublesome. We need to be viggilent and be ready for a campaign to free him and also safeguard the welfare of those living there.

Free our brother Bursalid!!

No matter how many nations we spread to, we will always be guests as long as we continue to neglect our homeland. This should serve as a wake up call to all Somalis that when we resist injustice, they have advantage over us, using our rafugees, business, population as trump cards to get their demands met. Let us WAKE UP :)

We should get our lands back completely as quick as possible

They caught two somalis that attacked the hotel a couple days ago. You think they using them to justify the harrassment?

Time for Somalos in Kenya to either fight Kenya or leave and return back home. My aunt just sold her home in Kenys and moving back to Puntland smart lady.

Dr. Bursaalid was teaching international relations for 10 years at the University of Nairobi and was entering the race for presidency of Jubbaland.
Being detained by the fufu bantus is going to backfire. As the article says there was "suspicion of offenses and the judge ordered for them to be detained for 4 days until the investigation is complete" this is nothing but intimidation there is a politically charged investigation and nothing more.

Somalis have grown way too comfortable in Kenya.

Hostility from Kenya may actually benefit Somalia by forcing people to stop fleeing their problems.

I have a wealthy uncle in Kenya who told me he is not interested in Somalia because Kenya has 50 million potential customers---obviously much more than Somalia. All of his investments are in Kenya, except for some wells in Kismayo. It will be a boom for Somalia if his type were sent packing.
