Kenya’s fertility decline since the 70s

Kenya’s fertility was as high as 8.1 in 1977 now it has declined to 3.4

The county with the highest fertility rate In Kenya is mandera with 8 wajir is also number 3 with 6.8

Somalis have double the National TFR meaning NFD should continue growing for decades to come inshallah:trumpsmirk:

There appears to be a gap in fertility opening up between Garissa and Wajir/Mandera. Increased urbanization in Garissa seems to have reduced fertility. Garissa now has a TFR similar to that of Awdal. A gap in TFR of 2.4 children per woman between Mandera and Garissa is huge.

Looking at the differences between the regions, I'm afraid that they same fate await us in a near future. As it is today, we're almost on par with north/north-western regions.
Hopefully our transition takes generations we need to keep our TFR atleast 4-5 for the next few decades hopefully as long as we maintain a mainly nomadic lifestyle it should be doable

Haven’t seen any sources yet that have shown Somali TFR in Nairobi but I hope it’s not as low as Djibouti City

I don't think so. Somalis in Nairobi tend to do better for themselves than Somalis in Djibouti, as they have more opportunities, lower unemployment/poverty, inexpensive to make ends meet (at least relative to the exorbitant cost of living in Djibouti city) etc.
